Biden’s Bid For The President Is A Touch-And-Go Decision

Despite allegations, Biden is still the left's best chance to beat Trump.

Joe Biden, the former Vice President, has not declared if he is running for president or not in 2020, but two recent allegations might force his decision.

Biden has been accused by two women for unwanted touching.

Amy Lappos, a Connecticut woman, described an uncomfortable encounter with Biden in a recent Hartford Courant article.

“He put his hand around my neck and pulled me in to rub noses with me. When he was pulling me in, I thought he was going to kiss me on the mouth.” – Amy Lappos describing an encounter with Joe Biden.

Lappos is the second woman to come forward with a creepy Biden story. The former Nevada assemblywoman, Lucy Flores, claimed that Biden made her feel “uneasy, gross and confused.”

The claims couldn’t come at a worse time for Biden as he tries to decide if he will run for president. Despite the allegations, Biden stands firm that he did nothing wrong.

“In my many years on the campaign trail and in public life, I have offered countless handshakes, hugs, expressions of affection, support and comfort. And not once – never – did I believe I acted inappropriately. If it is suggested I did so, I will listen respectfully. But it was never my intention. I may not recall these moments the same way, and I may be surprised at what I hear. But we have arrived at an important time when women feel they can and should relate their experiences, and men should pay attention. And I will.” – Joe Biden in response to allegations.

The claims are not really sexual in nature, and are not likely to be investigated. They are more creepy than anything else, and creepy stories are not good when you are thinking of running for president in the age of the #MeToo movement. It is especially damaging for a man that wants to lead the Democrats in a fight against Trump.

In a recent a recent poll on potential 2020 election match-ups, Joe Biden was the only one that is clearly capable of beating Trump. The poll had Biden winning 42% to 36% for Trump.

If the allegations hurt Biden and even possibly keep him from running, then the Democrats have to look to Sanders, Beto O’Rourke or someone new to win back the presidency. Unfortunately for the left, in the same poll, Sanders only slightly edges out a victory on Trump while O’Rourke looses badly.

Biden is clearly the top choice on the left right now, but things could change now that two women have spoken out against some of the former Vice President’s alleged creepy actions.

Nancy Pelosi said that the allegations should not disqualify Biden from running for president.

So the decision is still up in the air, but he’s going to have to decide soon, but too many more of these allegations and he will have a hard time convincing American voters that he is the right pick to lead the party that fosters the #MeToo movement.

With Biden as a candidate, it could make the left’s attacks on Trump’s behavior with women hypocritical. It’s a tough call for the Democrats and for Biden. It could make or break the left’s desire to beat Trump in 2020, and according to the polls without Biden, the left may not have a candidate that could win the White House.
