Where White People Meet: Dating Double Standard?

Sam and Jodie Russell had a bright idea several months ago when they came up with the concept of a new dating site, WhereWhitePeopleMeet.com.

The site, which is only two months old, has faced a backlash and calls that it’s a “racist” Web site.

While sites exist for every race, creed, religion and even sexual identity, a site to match Caucasians with their preferred partner is a stretch too far for an overly sensitive, politically correct nation.

ABC, CNN, and even late night host Jimmy Kimmel have mocked the site.

While the site does not prohibit non whites from signing up and finding a match, the name is an automatic filter for those looking for their love through a Web site.

Sam Russell, fighting the charges of racism, fell back to the standard white guilt response that he has “great black friends” and has even dated a black girl for a year.

The site’s administrator has to regularly delete fake profiles that depict suitors such as Adolf Hitler and black face characters . . . the individuals creating the fake accounts are clearly attempting to disrupt the business.

Critics within the dating industry are offended by the “white only” site by saying, “In this day and age, you can’t say, ‘I only want to hire white people’ so why is it okay to say, ‘I only want to date white people?’”

The dating industry is a $2 billion a year profit center and if there is a place for every other race and ethnicity, is it not appropriate to establish a site for “white America.”
