Uber Driver With a Carry Permit Shoots Crazed Gunman

Put this in the “good guy with a guns” column: an Uber driver, with a concealed carry permit, came to the rescue after a gunman opened fire on a crowd of people in Chicago’s Logan Square.

The shooter, Everardo Custodio, 22, had begun firing into a crowd just before midnight on a crowded street, right in front of the driver’s car.

The Uber driver pulled out his handgun and fired six shots at Custodio, hitting him several times. No one else was injured, by either Custodio or the Uber driver.

Custodio was taken to the hospital, and charged with aggravated assault and unlawful use of a weapon.

Thankfully, no charges have been filed against the Uber driver, a 47-year-old Chicagoan who provided police his valid concealed carry permit, along with a firearm owner’s identification card.

Had this Uber driver not been present–or had he not been allowed to own a gun–there’s no telling how many innocent people may have been injured or killed.

Despite the best efforts of the Left to make gun-owning a thing of the past–which would keep guns out of the hands of good guys, like this Uber driver, but do little to stop criminals. It remains clear that the best way to prevent crime is for the public to have the ability to defend themselves and others.
