President Donald Trump’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame was destroyed earlier this month.
But now, he has dozens of new ones.
A group of conservative street artists–who call themselves “The Faction”–laid down about 50 vinyl decals depicting Trump’s star on blank spaces on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The results were surprisingly realistic.
One of the artists says that he was motivated by the most recent destruction of Trump’s star–but also from the recent efforts by the West Hollywood City Council, which has no jurisdiction over the Walk of Fame, to remove the star.
“Rip up the president’s Walk of Fame star or try to have it removed — like you’re the mayor of West Hollywood or something — and 30 more will pop up,” the artist said, in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
The stars were printed on floor-grade vinyl with adhesive backing. The Faction said they spent $1,000 on the stars, which was financed by a “young and anonymous entrepreneur.”
“I didn’t want to get hit over the head from behind. We thought Trump Derangement Syndrome was a joke, but I’m pretty sure it’s real,” the artist added. “If no one peels these off, they could last there for 10 years.”
Unfortunately for the Faction, the stars were, in fact, peeled off–largely because people were afraid that liberal vandals would attack the phony stars.
“I was surprised, it looked pretty real,” said one street vendor.
