A prominent left-wing CNN journalist has been banned from the White House—after getting in a brutal verbal sparring match with President Trump and smacking a female White House intern who tried to take his mic away.
Jim Acosta, who has long been an anti-Trump voice within the White House Press Corps, announced last night—just minutes before he was scheduled to be on the air—that he had his press credentials revoked by the Secret Service.
“I’ve just been denied entrance to the WH. Secret Service just informed me I cannot enter the WH grounds for my 8pm hit,” Acosta wrote, via Twitter.
White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders clarified that, yes, Acosta had been booted from the White House.
“President Trump believes in a free press and expects and welcomes tough questions of him and his Administration. We will, however, never tolerate a reporter placing his hands on a young woman just trying to do her job as a White House intern,” Sanders said. “This conduct is absolutely unacceptable.”
Acosta later hit back, saying that Sanders’ statement was a “lie.” However, a video shows Acosta shouting questions at Trump—but, when a female White House intern tries to take the mic away from him, he smacks down her arm.
CNN has not yet announced Acosta’s replacement to the White House Press Pool.
