Socialist Candidate Has Craziest Idea Yet

Crazy Candidate
"Karl Marx had some great ideas guys... really!"

Actress Cynthia Nixon, who is locked in a contentious Democratic primary for New York governor, came up with the craziest idea yet to fund socialism: don’t.

Nixon has been promoting a plan for universal healthcare in New York, which is expected to cost as much as $200 billion in the first year alone–more than the state’s entire budget.

When asked in an interview how to fund it, Nixon admitted that she had no idea.

“Pass it and then figure out how to fund it,” she replied, before going on to cite the “enormous desire” for socialized medicine.

What Nixon doesn’t mention is that, by adding so much expense to the highly-taxed state’s already-bloated budget, taxes would have to triple, according a study from Rand.

Even the reliably-liberal New York Times took a shot at Nixon’s pipe dreams for socialized medicine–questioning if it’s “a good thing” that Nixon wants to “double New York’s budget.”

“No serious candidate in modern times has proposed an increase in the size of New York state government that comes close to Cynthia Nixon’s platform in the Democratic primary for governor,” wrote the Times.

Nixon will face sitting Gov. Andrew Cuomo in the Democratic primary on September 13, a race that Cuomo is expected to win handily.
