A transgender “dad” in New Zealand is planning to raise a baby without a gender.
“I hope it’s human,” is the answer Scout Barbour-Evans apparently gives when asked if the baby is going to be a boy or a girl.
Barbour-Evans, who was born a woman but identifies as neither gender, is eight months pregnant. The baby’s biological father is a sperm donor, but despite biology, Barbour-Evans plans to be the child’s “dad.”
“It’s me,” Barbour-Evans said, when asked who the father of the child was. “My child will call me papa.”
Barbour-Evans “desperately wanted to have a child” and sought out the sperm donor in order to make that happen.
Barbour-Evans’ gender-neutral baby is due December 10.
