A shocking July 2016 attack which resulted in the death of two police officers and a sheriff’s deputy, as well as injuries to a further two deputies and an officer, has been blamed on the actions of civilian group Black Lives Matter.
A new lawsuit filed on behalf of one of the injured parties claims that the movement,
“Incited the violence against police in retaliation for the death of black men shot by police,” and “did nothing to dissuade the ongoing violence and injury to police.”
Further noting that,
“In fact, they justified the violence as necessary to the movement and war,”
Amongst the horrific wounds suffered by the claimant is a torn left ear, a shattered skull and a severely wounded eye, the officer is seeking at least $75,000 in compensation for the damages.
Shooter Gavin Long carried out the killings in July, just a few weeks after the death of Alton Sterling at the hands of a white officer. BLM had organized the “Weekend of Rage” protest march in response to the incident, a protest which is described as quickly having turned into a “riot”, BLM leaders were indicted for making no attempts to calm the violent sentiment on display.
Pressed with the charges, defendant DeRay Mckesson stated,
“This is the second lawsuit an officer has filed against me from Baton Rouge. … I’m confident it has no merit.
It is an inescapable fact that BLM presence has been linked to other such violent attacks. A prior incident in Dallas involving the death of Philando Castle, saw similar violent protests erupt with Mckesson himself arrested for his involvement in that instance. Again, the general atmosphere of hostility towards law enforcement seems to have led to a July 7th shooting which killed five officers and wounded seven others.
The murderer, identified as 25 year old Micah Johnson was a known BLM advocate with a search history showing a deep involvement with the party.
How long before this so called movement will be classified for what it really is? BLM is a hate group on equal footing with the KKK or any other such organization that seeks to prey on the prejudices of the weak-minded.
Whipping grieving communities into a frenzy that encourages violent reprisals against the very people policing them has caused the death of countless numbers on either side. Hopefully this case in successful in bringing the actions of these homegrown terrorists to light for what they really are, and holding them to account for the effect.
