On Christmas Eve, the two most powerful Democrats in the country got bogged down in a curious controversy… they, apparently, plagiarized each other.
Just minutes apart, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) tweeted exactly the same thing… and it’s not clear where it came from.
It's Christmas Eve and President @realDonaldTrump is plunging the country into chaos. The stock market is tanking and the President is waging a personal war on the Federal Reserve—after he just fired the Secretary of Defense.

23 minutes later, Pelosi tweeted exactly the same thing—except she added, “#TrumpShutdown” to the end.

Pelosi and Schumer, as the two leaders of congressional Democrats, often use similar talking points… but this is the first time they’ve posted the exact same statement word for word.
Was it just a pair of lazy staffers who, wanting to get out of the office for the holidays, didn’t bother to reword a prepackaged statement?
Or are Pelosi and Schumer being fed boilerplate talking points from some other source, that they can’t bother to actually put any of their own opinion into?
Neither Pelosi nor Schumer have yet commented on the strange situation.
