Rep.-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) couldn’t even make it through Christmas without saying something stupid.
Ocasio-Cortez took to Twitter to wish her supporters a merry Christmas… with a catch, writing:
Joy to the World!
Merry Christmas everyone – here’s to a holiday filled with happiness, family, and love for all people. 🌎(Including refugee babies in mangers + their parents.)

The Holy Family was, of course, driven from Bethlehem and forced to flee to Egypt just days after the first Christmas, after King Herod heard of Christ’s birth. However, Egypt and Judea were the same country at the time: they were both part of the Roman Empire.
Ocasio-Cortez’s empathy for the Holy Family doesn’t quite extend to the rest of the Jewish people living in present-day Israel: she’s attracted controversy over anti-Israel comments in the past.
True love is radical because it requires us to see ourselves in all people. Otherwise, it isn’t love.
Love is revolutionary because it has us treat ALL people as we would ourselves – not because we are charitable, but because we are one.
That is love’s radical conclusion. pic.twitter.com/IB5q0ko8VQ

Notably, she criticized Israel for its “occupation” of Palestinian territories—a statement she had to walk back by claiming she was uninformed about the Middle East.
