Michelle Obama went after Melania Trump in a recent interview… and Mrs. Trump isn’t taking the criticism sitting down.
The apparent feud between the two First Ladies began when Mrs. Obama criticized Mrs. Trump for not seeking “advice” about how to be a good First Lady.
During an interview with ABC’s Robin Roberts to promote her new book, “Becoming,” Mrs. Obama first tried to avoid the question about what she thought of Mrs. Trump’s job as First Lady.
“I’d prefer not to, you know, speak on what she’s doing versus what I did,” she said.
But then she did just that: criticizing Mrs. Trump for not seeking “advice” about the role. Roberts was visibly surprised that Mrs. Trump, apparently, wasn’t begging Mrs. Obama for advice.
Mrs. Trump was, apparently, not to keen on the criticism—with her spokeswoman releasing a pointed statement to assert that Mrs. Trump, quite honestly, didn’t need any help from Mrs. Obama.
Stephanie Grisham, Mrs. Trump’s spokeswoman, fired back with a statement to CNN: “Mrs. Trump is a strong and independent woman who has been navigating her role as First Lady in her own way. When she needs advice on any issue, she seeks it from her professional team within the White House.”
