On Wednesday, rapper Kanye West unleashed a series of tweets praising President Donald Trump, who he has been a loyal supporter of since the 2016 Presidential elections.
Immediately after Kanye West tweeted, millions of enraged fans “unfollowed” him in protest.West lost over 9 million followers, including high profile celebrities like his wife’s sisters Kylie, Khloe and Kourtney.
“Justin Bieber, BTS, The Weeknd, Rihanna, Ariana Grande, Harry Styles, Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj, and Kendrick Lamar are among the artists who have unfollowed Kanye West on Twitter after his open support of Donald Trump”
The first tweet in favor of President Donald Trump that landed Kanye West in this mess was:
“You don’t have to agree with Trump but the mob can’t make me not love him. We are both dragon energy. He is my brother. I love everyone. I don’t agree with everything anyone does. That’s what makes us individuals. And we have the right to independent thought.”
Yet the tweets did not end here. Kanye sent out more tweets, where he not only ranted about his own political beliefs, but also what his wife thinks about this whole Trump-Kanye bromance.
“If your friend jumps off the bridge you don’t have to do the same. Ye being Ye is a fight for you to be you. For people in my life the idea of Trump is pretty much a 50 50 split but I don’t tell a Hillary supporter not to support Hillary – I love Hillary too.”
“I love when people have their own ideas. You don’t have to be allowed anymore. Just be. “
“Love who you want to love. That’s free thought. I’m not even political. I’m not a democrat or a republican”
Kim Kardashian who supported Hillary Clinton in the 2016 Presidential Elections, supposedly tried to do some damage control after her husband’s Twitter rant. She advised him to clarify that he is a supporter of Trump; however, it does not mean that he agrees with all of Trump’s policies and actions.
“my wife just called me and she wanted me to make this clear to everyone. I don’t agree with everything Trump does. I don’t agree 100% with anyone but myself.”
During his Twitter rant, Kanye also took a dig at the former U.S. President Barack Obama, who in an interview had labelled the rapper a ‘jackass’, for what Kanye had done in the 2009 VMAs.
“Obama was in office for eight years and nothing in Chicago changed.”
In response to Kanye’s tweets, President Trump yesterday, sent out a tweet himself, in which he thanked the rapper for his support and kind words.
“Thank you Kanye, very cool!“
