The second quarter numbers are in and they are good. The gross domestic product grew at a very strong 4.1%, making it the best economic growth pace since 2014.
The first quarter had a slight dip and grew at a pace of 2.2%, but things got a lot better. The growth rate almost doubled.
Friday morning, president Trump spoke about the rising GDP with a lot of optimism for future growth. Trump said that if the economy keeps this pace then it would double in 10 less years than it would have under Bush or Obama.

The economy is a big win for the president right now. The Democrats can scream, “Russia, Russia, Russia” all they want if this administration keeps the economy booming.
As the 2020 elections get closer, the left is going to have a lot of ammunition to use against Trump. They have Robert Muller and the FBI looking for Russian collusion. The left has secretly recorded tapes from Trump’s former lawyer. They have his often over-used Twitter account. They have a lot of ammunition, but it isn’t enough.
If the economy continues to see this kind of growth, it will be almost impossible for the Democrats to take over the White House in two years.
It is reasonable to believe that if the third quarter numbers come out with similar growth, the mid-term elections won’t be the landslide that Democrats are expecting. This is especially true if the Russian investigation is still dragging on.
Donald Trump may have some skeletons in the closet that keep coming out, bad decisions in the past that still haunt him, but this is a “what have you done for me lately” kind of political environment. According to the GDP, he is doing some great things with the economy and it is real Americans who are feeling the positive economic changes.
If Trump’s economy can make average Americans lives better, it doesn’t matter how many times they left shouts “Russia”, he’s going to win again.
