President Trump declared on Tuesday that he has appointed Mike Pompeo (CIA Director) to take place of Rex Tillerson.
“We made a wonderful change, I think Mike Pompeo is going to be an incredible secretary of State,” says President Trump. “We have some wonderful ideas.”
Trump also appointed Gina Haspel (CIA’s Deputy Director) to be the first female Director of the spy agency.
“The president is incredibly proud of his nominee,” explained Sarah Huckabee Sanders, White House Press secretary. “She’s highly qualified, highly recommended, and highly respected from both sides of the aisle, particularly from the Intelligence Community.”
The president also named Larry Kudlow, well known supply-side economist, to take up Gary Cohn’s former position as Chief Economic Adviser.
“I want to also see different ideas,” said President Trump. “Larry Kudlow just came in a little while ago and I think Larry is going to be outstanding as economic adviser.”
Conservatives are excited at the trajectory of these cumulative changes, elated that Trump is gathering a strongly competent and talented conservative team of top advisors around him.
“As you move through an administration you have different priorities you’re focused on and different people that are going to lead those efforts and those priorities, so you may have changes from time to time,” said Sanders. “The president is committed though to making sure he has the right people in the right place at the right time.”
President Trump remarked last week that though it has been just a year for him in Washington, he is still getting to meet and know new people who could help him in running his administration.
“I’ve gotten to know a lot of people over the last year,” President Trump further says. “I’ve been in Washington for a little over a year, whereas some people have been here 30, 40 years, I’ve gotten to know people so there will always be change”
Trump reiterated his point, “… but there will always be change. And I think you want to see change.”
“The president has a large number of individuals that are working hard to make sure that the V.A. is helping veterans as at the best level possible,” Sanders stated on Thursday. “We continue to review if there is anything we can do to improve on this…I don’t have any personnel announcements but we’re looking for how to better the system every day.
Whether it is through policy or personnel changes, not just at the top but across the board, we made a number of changes within the personnel and we’re making sure we’re looking at how to best serve our nation’s veterans.”
