Fox Refuses To Run Steyer’s “Impeach Trump” Commercials, Facing Lawsuit

Have you been seeing these anti-Trump commercials plastered across TV, and the internet? The ones ending with the demand that Trump be impeached immediately?

The man behind these bizarre commercials is Democratic mega-donor, and billionaire investor, Tom Steyer. These ads are being run across the nation, all in an effort to push Steyer’s latest vanity project – “Need To Impeach.”

However, Fox News has stood up to Steyer, and refused to run these hyper-partisan and radical ads on their TV station. But Steyer’s powerful, and well-dunded legal team has fired back.

Steyer’s legal team had sent a letter to Fox News claiming the network committed a breach of contract with Steyer when it pulled the 60-second ad spot that began airing this past October.

In a letter, addressed to Fox News co-president Jack Abernethy, the lawyer for Steyer, Brad Deutsch claimed that Fox’s decision to pull the ad “baseless and unethical.”

Deutsch also wrote that Fox had “unconditionally” agreed on October 27 to run the ads for another week, and that the decision to pull them signaled a “profound failure of journalistic integrity, a suppression of constitutionally protected speech, and likely a consequence of inexcusable political pressure.”

Fox News said that its viewers’ “strong negative reaction” to the ad factored into the network’s decision to pull the plug.

“Due to the strong negative reaction to their ad by our viewers, we could not in good conscience take their money,” Abernethy had said in a statement.

Steyer had paid for the ad campaign as part of an effort to push for Trump’s impeachment.

In the ad, Steyer goes on to say that Trump is bringing the U.S. “to the brink of nuclear war” with North Korea, and that Trump had “obstructed justice at the FBI” by firing the former Director James Comey in May while he was conducting a probe into the potential ties between the Trump campaign and Russian operatives. The investor and environmentalist then calls Trump a “clear and present danger” who is “mentally unstable,” urging his fellow American citizens to contact their representatives and support impeachment.

Trump pushed back against Steyer’s ad in a tweet on October 27, calling the billionaire “wacky” and “unhinged.”

“Wacky & totally unhinged Tom Steyer, who has been fighting me and my Make America Great Again agenda from the beginning, never wins elections!” Trump had tweeted shortly after the ad aired during the show “Fox & Friends,” which the president is known to frequently watch.

Shortly after Trump’s comment on Twitter, the ad was canceled. “It is no coincidence that the cancellation of the advertisement, in the second week of its run, came on the heels of a tweet from President Trump, criticizing the spot and Mr. Steyer personally,” Deutsch wrote.

Steyer also addressed the issue on Friday, saying, “If Fox News is siding with Trump and trying to silence us, they must be afraid of what we have to say,” Steyer had said. “It shows no respect for democracy.”

However, it’s worth saying that it is – in fact – Tom Steyer who is rejecting the democratic will of the American people who legally, and legitimately elected Donald Trump on November 7th 2016. If dozens of expensive, and overlapping Congressional and federal investigations – exercises in futility – have dug up nothing, then what exactly is the basis for Steyer’s demand for impeachment? It seems, there is none.
