Following the release of a second shocking Planned Parenthood hidden-camera video–featuring another of the organization’s top executives describing their apparent baby-parts-for-cash scheme–Republican presidential candidate Carly Fiorina has some choice words.
And she’s aiming her criticism squarely at Hillary Clinton and the Democratic Party, who have drifted progressively leftward over the last two decades on the issue of abortion.
Clinton, who has already received far more donations from Planned Parenthood staff members than any other 2016 presidential candidate, has yet to say anything about the controversy–and Fiorina believes that’s part of the problem.
“[This video controversy] is made even more terrible by the absolute deafening silence of the Democratic Party,” Fiorina explains. “Democrats have always fought for a policy that says it is not a life until it leaves the hospital. Hillary Clinton has fought to preserve that policy.”
After the release of the first video last week, Planned Parenthood has found itself knee-deep in controversy–even facing a possible official investigation by Congress, which aims to find out whether or not Planned Parenthood broke the law. Some states’ attorney generals have joined the fray, launching their own investigations into Planned Parenthood’s dealings.
But despite the existing controversy, the second, newly-released video–featuring Mary Gatter, Medical Director for Planned Parenthood Pasadena and San Gabriel Valley in California–is, in some ways, even more damning than the first.
After haggling for price for a few minutes for so-called “fetal tissue,” Gatter is asked to name her price. With a smile, she jokes, “I want a Lamborghini” in exchange for the hearts, livers, and lungs of an unborn child.
Planned Parenthood has already gone on the defensive, and even publicly admitted that there will be more videos just like this one being leaked. They wrote a lengthy letter to Congress, in the hopes that this issue will peter out sooner rather than later, and without a full investigation.
But, for many on the right–including Fiorina–the damage is already done, not just to Planned Parenthood but the seeming stranglehold pro-choice politicians and activists have on the political system.
Fiorina adds that she thinks all Americans, no matter what their political persuasions, should see these shocking videos as a wake-up call.
“It doesn’t matter whether you think you’re pro-choice or pro-life,” Fiorina says. “Every woman, every man has to look at these videos and think, what has gone wrong in our nation?”
