Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), a self-proclaimed socialist, voted to fund Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE)… and then turned around and attacked Trump for asking Congress to fund the agency.
“The president should not be asking for more money to an agency that has systematically violated human rights,” Ocasio-Cortez fumed on Tuesday, while appearing on Rachel Maddow.
“The president should be really defending why we are funding such an agency at all because right now what we are seeing is death, right now what we are seeing is the violation of human rights,” she added.
The problem? The President can propose a budget to Congress, but ultimately Congress gets to decide whether or not to fund the government.
Ocasio-Cortez, the week before, did vote to fund an agency that she thinks is complicit in “death” and “the violation of human rights.”
Last week, she had voted “aye” to fund a continuing resolution that fully funded the Department of Homeland Security, of which ICE is a part.
Chalk it up to another instance of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez being “morally right” if not “factually correct,” words she used to infamously defend her factual errors and outright lies last week.
