Despite the recent feud between President Trump and Attorney General Jeff Sessions over Session’s decision to sit out the Russia Investigation, Sessions vows to stand by Trump despite the negative press and recent criticism.
Attorney Jeff Sessions, talking to Fox New’s Tucker Carlson, admitted “Well . . . it’s kind of hurtful but the president of the United States is a strong leader” who is, “determined to move this country in the direction that he believes it needs to go to make it Great Again. And he has had a lot of criticisms and he’s steadfastly determined to get his job done, and he wants all of us to do our jobs — and that’s what I intend to do,” Sessions added.
Sessions expressed that he is no way content with the way “prosecutions and investigations” were dealt with in the past. “I have not been happy with the past prosecutions and investigations of criminal leaks,” Sessions stated.
“We’ve already taken a number of steps … We’ll have a press conference next week about it, but we already have multiples, numbers of prosecutions compared to last year at this time,” he added. And that “We’re stepping up those cases. It cannot continue.”
Session further stated that his department is working hard to be “more aggressive” since, he believes that “people need to go to jail.
President Trump has repeatedly called for leaks to be aggressively plugged, and for Sessions to lead the charge.
“I want the attorney general to be much tougher,” Trump had stated. And that, “I want the leaks from intelligence agencies, which are leaking like rarely have they ever leaked before, at a very important level. These are intelligence agencies we cannot have that happen.”
Last week, President Trump argued that he would have never hired Sessions in the first place, had he known that Sessions would recuse himself from the Russia Investigation.
Anthony Scaramucci, the president’s new communications director, on the other hand stated that he is willing to “fire everybody” to stop the leak of unauthorized information being handed down to the press office. “What I want to do is I want to f—— kill all the leakers, and I want to get the president’s agenda on track so we can succeed for the American people,” he said.
“You’re either going to stop leaking or you’re going to get fired,” he added.
Scramacci expressed that he understands it is “impossible” to eliminate leaks, however, he argued, “”We’re going to try and hit a cultural reset on these leaks not only here in the White House, but I’m going to be working with the agencies and the departments to do that.”
“Now one of the big problems here that I’m discovering in the (communications) team is that senior people are really the guys doing the leaking and they ask junior people to leak for them,” Scaramucci noted, discussing the radical culture change that will have to take place.
