Raining Frogs, Lightning Bolts and Post Birth Abortion

Now the pro-abortion movement wants post-birth abortions.

By now, you’ve likely seen the clip of a Virginia state representative standing behind a microphone answering questions about her new bill that would violently alter abortion laws within her state.

If not, here’s a quick recap:

Virginia Delegate Todd Gilbert: How late in the third trimester could a physician perform an abortion if he indicated it would impair the mental health of the woman?

Virginia Delegate Kathy Tran: The third trimester goes all the way up to 40 weeks,

Gilbert: Okay . . . but to the end of the third trimester?

Tran: Yup, I don’t think we have a limit in the bill.

Gilbert: So . . . ummm . . . Where it’s obvious that a woman is about to give birth, that she has physical signs that she is about to give birth, would that be a time where she could request an abortion, is she was so certified?

Gilbert: . . . she’s dilating . . .

Tran: Mr. Chairman, that would be a decision that the doctor, the physician, and the woman would make at that point.

Gilbert: I understand that. I’m asking if your bill would allow that.

Tran: My bill would allow that. Yes.

W . . . T . . .F??

To make matters even more bizarre, Virginia’s Democrat Governor, Ralph Northam, went on the radio to defend the bill, but instead sounded like he was walking into the set of a deranged Mad Max movie that was forced to kill babies to save oxygen.

Northam explained that if a woman desired to have an abortion while in labor – and the baby was born – the child could be “resuscitated if that’s what the mother and the family desired, and then a discussion would ensue” on whether to perform an abortion.

Seriously?

As I heard that, I have to admit, I became a bit nervous.

Is this the point where society crumbles, frogs rain from the sky and lightning bolts tear through Capital buildings?

Having a crack pot proposal that is grotesque is one thing. People say horrendously dumb things every day.

That’s not the situation here. An elected state representative introduced legislation that would allow the unequivocal, bright-line, no bones about it, murder of a child . . . as a convenience!

And the proposal is supported by a sitting American governor!

To put this in perspective, I have to put this in context.

A mentally distressed woman is giving birth and tells her doctor that she wants to abort the child.

The woman and her child, let’s say a baby girl, are at FULL TERM – 40 weeks, 280 days.

The baby girl survives birth, and in any normal, decent scenario, a nurse is cleaning the child, counting her fingers and toes, helping her clear her lungs while being able to look into her bright eyes as they see light for the first moment of her life.

This baby girl is healthy, she’s alive. She’s breathing, she’s crying, she’s waiting for the first touch of her mother.

But the decision had already been made. She wasn’t meant to be born and now a doctor has to pick her up, inject her with a drug to stop her heart, and just as she just took her first breath, she is now taking her last breath.

The baby girl’s eyes fade . . . her life is gone as she was “aborted” after she was born.

I’m having a hard time writing this as the only words I can think of at the moment are simplistic and obscene.

The introduction and defense of this bill in Virginia (and a similar bill actually passing in New York) are prime examples of how deeply this nation is divided along cultural lines.

The pro-abortion movement has become so bold, so selfish of its “my body” principles that they would be willing to literally kill a child after its born.

If that is the new standard for the timing of abortion, what is the new cut off?

Myself and other pro-life individuals believe that life begins at conception (because it does).

However, you can have reasonable disagreements about when a life is “viable.” When the heart begins to beat at eight weeks? When “fetal viability” is likely at 23 weeks? Up until birth?

With the Virginia proposal, what’s the new standard for a limit on abortion?

Five minutes post birth?
Four hours?
Seven days?
Before filing the first tax return?

The Pro-Life movement has become much more sophisticated over the past few decades, far less confrontational and far more educational. It’s a strategy that is effective as it limits further polarization and women becoming too entrenched before they may have to make a personal decision for themselves.

As a result, the Pro-Abortion movement has become much more aggressive, offensive and have lost any smidgen of respect that they have ever held for life.

Thousands of years ago, Syrians sacrificed three thousand of children to Jupiter and Mars in brutal rituals. Today, pro-abortion liberals want to sacrifice newborn babies in honor of their political affiliations – to pink hats and “Me too” movements.

Now is the time for Pro-Life leaders to show some teeth.

Governor Northam, Delegate Kathy Tran and any person who even briefly considered this proposal need to be shamed out of public life – then forced to crawl under the biggest, darkest rock in Virginia.

A society that fails to protect its children, its most innocent, its most defenseless, is not a society that deserves to exist.

While Kathy Tran’s post abortion bill was defeated (as I was writing this), the thought that political leaders exist with such twisted principles should have all of us doubling down to make sure these people never come close to public policy in the future.
