Planned Parenthood Fights Law Requiring Clean Clinics

Are they really arguing a women's right to... criminally unsanitary medical conditions???

Last month, Indiana Republic Gov. Eric Holcomb signed a law mandating annual safety inspections on abortion clinics—and Planned Parenthood is flipping out.

Planned Parenthood and the ACLU have partnered to file a suit against the state, claiming that the law “imposes unique and burdensome obligations” and is unconstitutional.

The law, which s set to take effect in July, amends a currently law that says that state officials may do an annual inspection of clinics—replacing the word “may” with “shall,” in effect making these inspections mandatory. It would also require clinics to report any complications that occur during an abortion, including emotional and psychological trauma.

Christie Gillespie, the president and CEO of Planned Parenthood of Indiana and Kentucky, slammed the new law in a statement—claiming that it “is not about patient safety” because abortion “is already incredibly safe.”

She added that this is “yet another attempt by politicians to shame and stigmatize pregnant Hoosiers and spread the myth that abortion is dangerous.”
