Jeb Bush Lashes Out At Trump Kids, Gets Demolished

"Please clap"

Jeb Bush went after President Trump’s kids with a below-the-belt attack—but the younger Trumps came out swinging, absolutely destroying the former Florida governor.

In a talk at Yale, Bush joked that he’s “still in therapy” after the results of the 2016 election. Then he laid into Trump, calling him a “Republican in basically name only.”

But Bush’s most barbed comments came when he ostensibly went after Trump’s family. Bush said that after losing the 2016 Republican primary in South Carolina, he returned home to children who “actually love me.”

Though Bush didn’t mention Trump specifically, the crowd laughed at what they perceived to be a thinly-veiled jab at Trump. The media later reported that it was, in fact, a suggestion that Trump’s children don’t love their father.

Trump’s kids didn’t take the insult sitting down.

“I actually love my father very much. #PleaseClap,” Eric Trump tweeted, mocking Jeb Bush infamously begging a crowd to “please clap” during the primary.

Donald Trump Jr. also jumped into the fray, also mocking Jeb by referencing his exclamation point logo: “Jeb! I love everything about my father. I love that he’s a fighter, I love that he has guts, I love that he’s President (all those things you’re not),” Trump Jr. wrote. “Also love that he learned enough about politics in a few weeks to dismantle you piece by piece despite it being your life’s work.”
