Senate Readies Trump’s Immigration Reform Bill

Still too much "Bipartisanship," why can't we just 1) build the wall, and 2) deport them all?

Led by Chuck Grassley, GOP senators are preparing a comprehensive immigration bill – as called for by President Trump. According to his specifications, the bill is expected to place substantial restrictions on immigration, as well as fund construction of a wall across the southern border.

Seven GOP senators, led by Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), are expected to introduce the Secure and Succeed Act, on Monday. “Our proposal is supported by the President, who’s come a long way to reach a compromise. This is the only Senate proposal that has any chance of passing the House and being signed into law,” Grassley said.

The bill is a culmination of months of back-and-forth negotiation and debate with Democrats – whose votes will be needed to get a bill through the Senate. Although the bill is expected to grant a path to citizenship for 1.8 million illegals, it also secures $25 billion for the border wall, and other vital immigration reforms – like an end to “chain migration” and the idiotic and dangerous “diversity lottery.”

The immigration framework was pushed by President Trump, after the incident in which a drunk illegal killed Colts player, Edwin Jackson, in a car accident. Earlier last week, the President tweeted that, “So disgraceful that a person illegally in our country killed @Colts linebacker Edwin Jackson.” Adding that, “This is just one of many such preventable tragedies. We must get the Dems to get tough on the Border, and with illegal immigration, FAST!”

The President argues that enforcing a strict immigration framework will toughen interior enforcement and will allow the country to fully implement the E-verify program. Post implementation of the program have been piecemeal and have not introduced harsh enough penalties for illegal immigrants who re-enter the country after being deported. The E-verify program will also be used to track down visa overstays, another major source of illegal immigration into our nation.
