Rumors Swirl Over Paul Ryan’s Political Future

Paul Ryan
An endangered RINO in it's natural habitat...

Last week, The Huffington Post claimed in their story “When Will Paul Ryan Step Down?” that the House Speaker will be retiring by next year. This news set off a firestorm of speculation about whether Ryan was indeed leaving, and what could possibly drive him to such a decision.

It is hard to believe that the man who is 3rd in line to the Presidency (in succession), who holds one of the most powerful positions in American politics could simply want to walk away. However, adding credibility to the Huffington Post’s story, Politico ran an in-depth story explaining that Ryan was profoundly “tiring of D.C.” They also cited numerous unnamed sources that Ryan has already consulted with his family and inner circle of advisors. Politico claims that Ryan, “would like to serve through Election Day 2018 and retire ahead of the next Congress.”

Politico explains, “Despite several landmark legislative wins this year, and a better-than-expected relationship with President Donald Trump, Ryan has made it known to some of his closest confidants that this will be his final term as speaker. He consults a small crew of family, friends and staff for career advice, and is always cautious not to telegraph his political maneuvers. But the expectation of his impending departure has escaped the hushed confines of Ryan’s inner circle and permeated the upper-most echelons of the GOP.”

When House Republicans were asked about his future Conservative Paul Gosar, of Arizona said, “I think Paul’s got to do what Paul’s got to do. He was a reluctant person to take the job; it’s not something he ever wanted,” Adding, “And you know, there is something to be said about going out when you’re on the top of the heap when you get something like tax reform.”

Media outlets went on to state that as per those close to the Wisconsin Republican, he is thinking of returning back home to his family, especially his children that he would like to spend time with before they move into their teenage years. Some even stated that Ryan is looking to retire in fear of President Donald Trump seeking a reelection, which may kill his plans to run for the office at some point along the road.

He likes hunting, dogs, and supports the troops at home and abroad.
