ICE Planning Major Raids Across San Francisco

Immigration Bust
Its about damn time!

Sanctuary state or not, Immigration and Customs Enforcement is planning a big raid in far-left San Francisco–with the goal of arresting and deporting up to 1,500 illegal aliens.

The San Francisco Gate wrote that “U.S. immigration officials have begun preparing for a major sweep in San Francisco and other Northern California cities in which federal officers would look to arrest more than 1,500 undocumented people while sending a message that immigration policy will be enforced in the sanctuary state, according to a source familiar with the operation.’

They added that ICE declined to comment on their operation.

“The sweep would represent the first large-scale effort to target the region since Gov. Jerry Brown in October signed legislation enacting a statewide sanctuary law,” the Gate added. “Supporters say the law allows undocumented immigrants to cooperate with local police and seek education, health care and other public services without worrying they will expose themselves to possible deportation.”

Even though California is officially a “sanctuary state,” it doesn’t get to write its own immigration policies. The sanctuary state designation only applies to the level of cooperation local and state police officers are allowed to have with federal immigration officials.

The Trump Administration has vowed to crack down on sanctuary cities and sanctuary states. Its initial plan to cut federal funds was taken off the table, but a new tactic–arresting mayors and governors for “harboring illegal immigrants,” which is already a federal crime–is apparently being mulled by the Department of Homeland Security.
