Muslim Clock Boy Suing City

The young man known as clock boy made a clock that looked a lot like a bomb is now suing the school for accusing him of making a bomb.

When 14-year-old Ahmed Mohamed started his freshman year at MacArthur high School in Irving Texas, he wanted to impress his teachers.

Supposedly he made a clock out of left over electronics from his father’s cell phone store. He took the clock into school to show his teachers, but they thought it was a bomb and the school called the police and detained the young man.

The Muslim boy was released and never charged, but the event got national attention and the young man was invited to Facebook by Mark Zuckerberg and even met president Obama.

That didn’t stop his family from moving to Qatar shortly after meeting the president, due to better education opportunities and to avoid the treats the family received in Texas.

Now the next step is for the family is to sue his hometown for violating the young man’s civil rights.

Despite bringing a clock into school that looked remarkably like a bomb, Ahmed places all the blame on the schools and the town for his treatment.

This lawsuit comes on the heels of a letter the family sent to the school district and the city last year demanding $15 million or they will sue.

They did not get the $15 million and now they are taking it to court.

There is no evidence that the school did anything wrong. Teachers are supposed to speak out when they see something that doesn’t look right. A clock that looks like a homemade bomb is something that the teacher should investigate.

The case won’t move forward until the fall, but check back with Liberty News Now for any updates.
