After six days without power and the benefit of the local grocery store, a stranger or worse, a neighbor, may land on your doorstep asking if you can spare some food or water.

With a family to support . . . the answer is no.

But as Donald Trump would say, “work out the lumps.”

Develop a steely poker face so that when someone asks that question, you can sincerely say, “Food? Do you have any? My family is starving! Can you help me? Any bit, just a can of beans will do!”

Harsh, but it’s either your family or theirs. You decide.
